My plane was broken and I am stuck halfway to New Zealand, these are my thoughts

I have had roughly five hours of sleep in two days. I have been sent to a hotel in Singapore because the plane was broken. I have been on hold with Qantas for all time.

I think Anora ruled and I'm delighted by its Oscar sweep. Sean Baker seems to me to be an extremely collaborative filmmaker; so much about his films is not in the text, he relies on his actors a lot. That means that he has to trust his own casting instincts and be open to what they bring to the table and that's why his films are great.

I think Kite Man: Hell Yeah is very good. I like that it's mostly lower stakes shit, like having to do a heist so you can buy the local dive is very good, I wish it had stayed at that level the whole season tbh.

I think we need cooler people running for office. We've been trying to think of which of our friends we should convince to do politics; we need younger, hotter, more charismatic, angrier people to drag the left back to, like, the actual left. But then it's hard in the UK, we can't primary our dipshit MPs like Americans can. A person can run as an independent, but there's no way of ousting, for example, my idiot MP from his Labour safe seat. Still, though. We need better political figures to coalesce around as a movement.
