So what happened with that boat, huh?

I was not on the promised boat when my last newsletter went out. They would not let us have it because the sea was too rough for us to be trusted with a boat.

In fairness, the sea was also too rough for the ferries to be running, so I suppose I can't really take offence at that. The weather on land was delightful, however, so while I wasn't on a boat, I was at least lounging on the beach in Monterosso drinking beer and eating extremely good pizza, like really fucking good pizza.

The author's knees set against the pristine blue sea of the beach in Monterosso. To the left, charming beach umbrellas. To the right, an impressive driftwood shelter built by random children. Idyllic hills in the background, clear blue skies above.
The beach I was on instead of a boat when last week's email went out.

It was lovely but has, unfortunately, been corrupted by tourists, which I realise is hypocritical of me to say. Human people simply love nothing more than discovering a charming, off-the-beaten-track locations and then flooding to them in truly hostile numbers.
