The real trickle down economics is Brian Cox having to do ads for Asics

Every time I see Brian Cox advertising Asics a little spark of joy dies in my heart. He was just in one of the most talked about TV series of recent years! He's seventy eight years old! He's been working since the 60s! He had four movies or TV series released in 2024, he has five more projects in post-production. He doesn't need to be selling sneakers!
There's been a real upswing in celebrities starring in ads and it bums me out, you know? At least when it was just, like, Kevin Bacon doing EE you know it was because he lost all his money in a Ponzi scheme, now it feels like it's just the way it is.
Gillian Anderson is selling mattresses! Kaitlyn Dever and Melissa McCarthy are advertising hotels dot com!
Celebrity endorsements are one thing, but this feels more and more like celebrities being cast in ads and I hate it and it makes me sad.
It indicates a creative industry in decline, and I know that that's not news, but I think it's important to keep talking about.
