Why did we all decide business is sensible?

I've decided that an MBA is the most nonsense degree you can have. And I say that as someone whose degree is in theatre.

In another world or in another era this observation would just be idle chitchat but in this world, in this era we've decided that business boys are the best and smartest boys and now it's an existential issue.

For years now, in all the countries I pay attention to, people have been bringing business experts into politics, claiming that because they know how to run business they know how to run country and we just let them say it. And for a while it's just seemed annoying, just a little naive, just a little simplistic.

But the longer it goes on the more it becomes clear that it's abjectly deranged. This is, of course, especially true if we're talking about business now, in 2025, when every industry has become almost subservient to big tech, which operates by building hype to inflate value and hasn't concerned itself with providing a decent service in years.

But that's not my area of expertise, so I'm going to talk about something that is, I'm going to talk about where we should be looking for how to run things: the theatre.
